This project examines the historical thinking concept of historical perspectives by helping students understand how people in the past viewed their world through the context of their own beliefs, values, and experiences. Designed for Grade 10 Ontario History, it uses a World War I primary source, guided historical inquiry, and a source analysis organizer to develop students ability to contextualize evidence and avoid presentism. Grounded in historical thinking scholarship, the project supports students in building their analysis of the past through evidence and contextualized interpretations.
