Hypothesis: The present NB321C education strategy emphasizes the importance of keeping classrooms at pace with current technologies and social trends. The purpose of this is to keep students engaged and prepare them for life in the rapidly changing Twenty-First Century world. While this program is progressive, its purpose is not as radical and reformist as its advertisements would suggest. Rapid technological and social change is not unique to 2011, and by analyzing some educational practices of the 1970’s we can see how engaging students and preparing them to be adaptive citizens was a common concern of both times. Social Studies education in particular aims to create students who are actively involved in social progress.
