How has the evolution of technology affected education and student learning in Ontario from 1900-1999?
Thesis Statement
The continued evolution of technology has helped to foster innovative and interactive learning experiences for students in educational settings throughout the twentieth century. Despite varying degrees of success, as well as initial criticism and skepticism, the ultimate goal has remained the same – the assistance in and enrichment of student learning.
Overall Research Question
What was going on in the world and Canada in particular, at different points during the twentieth century? What were the political, economic, social, and cultural variables that could have affected educational technology? What was the physical setup of the classroom like during different decades? What technologies emerged throughout these decades? What pieces of technology were popular in schools? Why did people find these technologies important or beneficial to education? What were the technological trends of each period in Ontario specifically?
