This project asks students to investigate primary sources utilizing Continuity and Change historical thinking skills. By positioning students as viewers of the same site in Japan pre- and post-atomic bombing, students are asked to investigate their own perceptions of continuity and change in history and compare them to the historical narrative. It provides a graphic organizer aimed at providing a solid foundation for students new to the skill as a whole, and that can benefit students of all levels. By directly taking a look at images of the past as if they were there themselves students engage in the critical work of historical empathy to uncover what has truly changed and what has stayed the same.
