This project examines Cause and Consequence, one of the six historical thinking concepts. This exploration is done through the progression of Canadian military uniforms and the development of the Canadian Identity. Engagement is presented through a gallery walk of images, in which students are expected to fill out a Primary Source Analysis and Comparison chart to help emphasize and improve their understanding of what changed in uniforms as students look at the images. This prompts students to dive deeper into the impact of major events (e.g, Canadian Identity development) over the years, as well as find what is not present in these changes. For a Grade 10 CHC 2D classroom, this is a creative activity to provide students with more of an opportunity to work hands-on with the thinking concept.
